Contains correspondence, memoranda, reports and other records of Samuel P. Huntington, including materials from his term as Associate Director (1973-78) and Director, beginning 1978. Correspondence is with colleagues, students, universities, publishers, government agencies, military academies, learned and professional organizations, and foundations. The administrative records include communications on personnel issues, the selection of CFIA Fellows, establishing academic chairs, status reports to foundations on activities of the CFIA, arrangements of and invitations to conferences, meetings and other programs. Some personal and professional papers of S. P. Huntington, and his research grant applications are interfiled. Some of these materials date back to ca. 1957. Also included are papers relating to conferences and other meetings primarily concerned with the following subjects: strategic studies, military affairs and arms control, including SALT II, national security and civil defense, international relations and foreign policy, transnational conflicts, NATO, and relations with the Third World, including Africa and Latin America. These conference materials include presentations by S.P. Huntington and other persons.
